American Prayers
Thanksgiving
We return thanks to our mother,
the earth, which sustains us.
We return thanks to the rivers and streams, which supply us with
water. We return thanks to all herbs, which furnish medicines for
the cure of our diseases. We return thanks to the moon and stars,
which have given to us their light when the sun was gone.We return
thanks to the sun, that has looked upon the earth with a beneficent eye.
Lastly, we return thanks to the Great Spirit, in Whom is embodied
all goodness, and Who directs all things for the good of Her children.

A Prayer
For The Wild Things
Oh,
Great Spirit, we come to you with love and gratitude for all living
things.
We now pray especially for our relatives of the wilderness - the four-
legged,
the winged, those that live in the water, and those that crawl upon the
land.
Bless them that they might continue to live in freedom and enjoy their
right
to be wild. Fill our hearts with tolerance, appreciation and respect for
all
living things so that we all might live together in harmony and peace.

Native American Prayer for Peace
Oh Great Spirit of our Ancestors, I
raise my pipe to you.
To your messengers the four winds, and to Mother Earth who
provides for your children. Give us the wisdom to teach our
children to love, to respect, and to be kind to each other, so
that they may grow with peace of mind. Let us learn to share
all good things that you provide for us on this Earth.
Cherokee
Prayer

Spirit, help me always to speak the truth quietly,
to listen with an open mind when others speak,
and to remember the peace that may be found in silence
